GNTO: UK Travel Professionals, Media Show High Interest in Olympia
UK tourism professionals, media representatives and influencers have expressed a great interest to visit and promote Olympia in Western Greece as an ideal destination for British travelers, according to the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
The feedback followed two exclusive dinners held recently at the Greek ambassador’s residence in London and organized by the GNTO’s UK and Ireland branch in collaboration with the Greek Embassy in London and the Aldemar Resorts hotel chain.
The events aimed to strengthen relations with the British travel market and promote the country’s tourism and gastronomy qualities.
According to an announcement, the GNTO focused on the promotion of Olympia as a tourism destination due to the Olympic Year and the Olympic Games that will take place in the summer of 2024.
During the events, attendees were informed about about the Peloponnese Region’s destinations, wine routes and closeness to Kalamata airport. The GNTO especially focused on the idea of combining holidays to Olympia, Athens and Zakynthos through joint travel packages.
The dinners were attended by a total of 40 professionals, journalists and influencers and important contacts were made with executives of the British travel market who are interested in including Olympia in their offers. Guests included representatives of The Times, National Geographic Traveller, Aspire, Travel Weekly and Travel Gossip. Influencers specializing in gastronomy and wine tourism also attended.
The Greek menu served at the dinners was curated by three chefs of Aldemar Resort. The menu included Greek fish and also promoted Greece’s Malagouzia wine (Lazaridis Estate) and PDO products from ODYSEA food company, which included Kozani saffron, Halkidiki olives and Aegina pistachio nuts.
