ANEK Lines’ Ferries Get ‘We do Local’ Quality Seal

ANEK’s Hellenic Spirit ferry

Greek passenger shipping company ANEK Lines has received the “We do Local” quality certification seal for its ferries Hellenic Spirit, Olympic Champion, Asterion II, Elyros, Kriti II and Prevelis, after successfully adopting the initiative’s proposed standards that aim to promote Greek tourism.

“We do local” is a project launched in 2014 by local entrepreneurs on the island of Crete, in cooperation with certification control body Cosmocert and Local Food Experts.

The initiative has since then expanded to include even more tourism enterprises that support Greece’s production, economy, manpower, gastronomy and environment.

After a thorough inspection, ANEK’s ferries were certified for the activities and events currently taking place on board, which aim to promote Cretan hospitality, cultural heritage and local gastronomy.

“Every journey is a unique experience under the care of ANEK’s people, who provide every passenger with the opportunity to get familiar with local tradition, specialties and flavors,” the company said in an announcement.

Furthermore, ANEK actively contributes to the promotion of the “We do Local” initiative by hosting photo exhibitions on board its ferries.

ANEK’s ferries feature more than 2,500 photos of high aesthetics, which reflect Greece’s tradition, past and future, and promote companies that support the country, respect its people, gastronomy traditions and customs.

“With the ‘We do Local’ seal ANEK Lines aims to multiply the traveler’s experience by promoting unique destinations that offer strong feelings, flavors and images,” the announcement said.
