Held during January 9-13 in Utrecht, The Netherlands, the 49th edition of the holiday fair attracted more than 103,000 visitors.

The Region of Attica participated in Vakantiebeurs as a co-exhibitor of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), with the aim to promote Attica’s tourism offerings.

Its executives presented Attica’s wine routes and historic vineyard, while participants had the opportunity to taste unique wines, such as the popular variety of Savatiano, and sample local delicacies.

According to the Region’s executives, Attica’s presence in the annual event is expected to further increase tourism flows from The Netherlands for 2019.

“We have been working systematically during the last few months to boost demand from this significant tourism market for Attica. So far, the roadshows that have taken place in Hague and Bruges, and the recent articles published in Dutch media… indicate that our efforts will pay off in the upcoming tourism season,” Executive Regional Councilor for Tourism Promotion Eleni Dimopoulou said.

During Vakantiebeurs 2019, the Region’s executives and partners also introduced the unique experiences offered in Attica, as well as its year-round multidimensional destinations.

Furthermore, a significant number of people visited the Region’s stand, with Dutch travelers showing great interest, not only for Athens but also for the area’s alternative tourism offerings that include sailing, yachting, and island hopping in the Saronic Gulf.
