Positive Performance for Goldair Handling in 2018

Goldair Group, one of the largest group of companies in the fields of tourism and transportation in Greece, this year reported positive performance across all its divisions, according to recently released data.

The group is active in the fields of airlines’ representation & airport services (Goldair SA); tourism and congress (Goldair Tourism); freight forwarding and logistics (Goldair Cargo); ground handling services (Goldair Handling); aviation security (Brinks); and renewable energy sources (Goldeco).

Leading the way in 2018 was Goldair Handling, marking growth in Greece and abroad, and serving over 128,000 flights, up by 8.4 percent compared to a year ago.

At the same time, the company hired an additional 169 employees with total staff now reaching 3,500 in the summer season. Indicatively, Goldair has been ranked 25th by ICAP in its Leading Employers in Greece list.

Goldair Handling this year moved ahead with its investment plan for the renewal and upgrade of the company’s equipment and supplies which came to 4 million euros, while inaugurating a new lounge at Heraklion Airport on Crete in June.

Moreover, as of 2018, Goldair Handling Croatia is licensed to operate out of Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik airports.

In the meantime, the company expanded its presence in Bulgaria through a partnership with Wizz Air. Goldair Handling is currently serving as a consultant to Oman Handling Services at Muscat International Airport, and is participating in the Goldair Assistance Consortium aiming to become a licensed services provider to people with disabilities at Zurich International Airport.

Goldair Tourism also marked growth entering new collaborations in the area of corporate travel and adding new partnerships to its roster. The year was also labeled a success for the company in the marine department.

Goldair Group also reported that 2018 was a very successful year for the transport and logistics industry, with the latter evolving into a “star-sector” of the Greek economy, mainly due to the country’s geopolitical position and especially due to the two ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki.

Goldair Handling and CSR

In terms of corporate social responsibility, Goldair Handling supports non-profit organizations (NGOs) dedicated to the care of children and the homeless. The company also carries out environmental protection initiatives (coastal recycling and cleanup programs) and encourages its staff to participate in volunteer actions.

Over the past three years, Goldair Handling has launched synergies with a number or organizations – The Smile of the Child, Doctors Without Borders, Make a Wish, Hellenic Red Cross, Helmepa, Praksis and others – which saw the participation of over 1,000 of its employees.

It should be mentioned that Goldair donated basic necessities to the Municipality of Nea Makri in order to support those affected by the devastating wildfires in Attica.

In Greece and abroad, Goldair employs more than 5,000 workers.
