Halkidiki, northern Greece, is gaining ground in the Dutch travel market, according to the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO), following its participation in this year’s Vakantiebeurs 2018 exhibition held in Utrecht, Holland, last week.

The HTO, which co-exhibited under the umbrella of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), presented the region’s tourist options while receiving feedback from Dutch sector professionals and public.

According to leading Dutch tour operators, pre-bookings are picking up pace, with Ronald van Bruchem, business development manager at Thomas Cook Netherlands, speaking of an 8 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

Van Bruchem added that 2017 was one of the best years for Halkidiki. TUI Holland and SUNDIO executives backed the claims, adding that Greece was among the top three emerging destinations in 2017.
