Greece – Cyprus – Egypt Cruise Link on the Table
Linking Greece, Cyprus and Egypt via cruise tourism was on the agenda of officials from the three countries, who gathered in Cairo recently to discuss the details of a Protocol of Cooperation signed last year in Larnaca by Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura, her Cypriot counterpart Georgios Lakkotrypis and Egypt Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Hassan Shoukry.
This week’s meeting focused on ways to launch cruise travel among the three countries, identified the ports to be used, the involvement of local government agencies, incentives to companies and tour operators, ways for the promotion of the endeavor and duration of stay in each country.
Other points of discussion were the regions to feature in the said cruises and which sites of tourist interest will be included in the itineraries.
The aim of the ambitious project is to re-establish the sea link between the three countries via tourism as was practiced in the past. The three sides agreed on common actions, time frames as well as plans to include the subject on the agenda of the next trilateral summit meeting.
