Greece-Russia Year of Tourism Set for Action
Greek tourism ministry authorities met with their counterparts in Russia to finalize the details of the Greece-Russia Year of Tourism 2017-2018, which was officially inaugurated by Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and Russian Alternate Culture Minister Alla Manilova at a special event earlier this year.
The Greek delegation visited Moscow to discuss the last details of the dozens of events, happenings and activities to take place in Greece and Russia as part of the Greece-Russia Year of Tourism 2017-2018, and which aim among others to identify new Greek destinations, promote theme-oriented products and expand demand through a stronger tourist flow from Russia to Greece.
Among the issues covered are the inclusion of regional authorities from both countries and collaboration in the promotion of religious tourism, medical, wellness, sports, youth and school tourism programs.
In the same direction, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) participated for the first time in Moscow’s Winter Ball 2017 last week as part of its strategy to attract luxury tourism from Russia. Organized by the Winter Ball Charity Foundation, the event was dedicated to Greece and featured Greek products and tourism deals.
