‘Russia – Greece Year of Tourism’ to Begin October 2017
The launch of joint actions and the promotion of new partnerships for the upcoming “Russia – Greece Year of Tourism 2017-2018″ were discussed recently in Moscow between Russian Deputy Culture Minister Alla Manilova and a Greek delegation headed by Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development Georgios Tziallas.
The Russia – Greece Year of Tourism 2017-2018 will begin in October 2017.
During the meeting, Manilova said that Greece is a political and strategic partner for the Russian Federation and therefore was selected among other countries for the joint celebration of the 2017-2018 tourism year.
According to an announcement, an action plan for the Russia – Greece Year of Tourism is expected to be finalized in the near future.
Within the framework of the year of tourism, the two sides will agree on ways to cooperate on thematic tourism forms that will include religious-pilgrimage tourism, cultural tourism, medical tourism, sports tourism, family tourism and school tourism.
While in Moscow, the Greek delegation met with the vice president of the Russian social security body, Evgeny Pisarevskiy, and discussed ways to cooperate to promote medical tourism. The delegation also met with local tour operators to discuss the impressive increase in the travel demand for Greece this year and the launch of travel packages for 2018.
The Greek delegation also included the vice president of the Greek National Tourism Organization Angeliki Chondromatidou and the director of the GNTO office in Moscow, Polykarpos Efstathiou.
