ITB Berlin: Halkidiki Sees 25% Rise in Summer Prebookings by German Tourists
Prebookings for Halkidiki in Northern Greece for the summer ahead are up by 25 percent, according to feedback gathered by the Halkidiki Tourism Organization’s (HTO) at this year’s ITB Berlin trade show.
Together with the Region of Central Macedonia, the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (ΤΤΟ), and the Pieria Tourism Development Organization, the HTO targeted the German market promoting the region’s diverse tourist offer for 2024.
According to German tour operators, including DER Touristik, TUI, FTI, Alltours, Schauinsland-Reisen, demand for Greece as reflected by prebookings is up by 25 percent compared to the same period a year ago and by 12 percent over 2019. Booking platforms HolidayCheck and EasyHolidays are seeing bookings up by 19 percent and 24 percent, respectively.
At ITB, Jet2 representatives also confirmed growing interest for the region from the UK market with prebookings up by 8 percent. To meet the demand Jet2 has added 13 new hotels to its roster.
The HTO also announced its first FAM trip for the year in June to be carried out in collaboration with the GNTO Germany branch.
The Halkidiki Tourism Organization has been actively participating in travel shows this year and targeting new markets. So far this year it has participated in the Travel+ Exhibition in Budapest, Hungary, the TTR Romanian Tourism Fair 2024 held in Bucharest, and the “Vakantiebeurs 2024” expo held in Utrecht, Netherlands.
