Greek Health Tourism Body Proposes Hotel Medical Units
Establishing medical units in 4- and 5-star hotels can contribute to the development of health tourism in Greece, according to Greek Health Tourism Council (Elitour) President Giorgos Patoulis who met with Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis this week.
Patoulis, who is also the president of the Athens Medical Association, briefed the minister on Elitour actions and initiatives towards establishing Athens and Greece as leading health and wellness tourism destinations.
In this direction, he proposed the creation of medical units inside hotels offering high quality health and wellness services that could be covered under the new development law. These health centers, Patoulis said, would receive special certification to ensure the highest standard of services according to international protocols.
Georgiadis confirmed that developing the health tourism segment in Greece was a top ministry priority particularly in view of Greece’s natural offerings, admitting however that it was a competitive market. He went on to add that the ministry was committed to cooperating with Elitour in this direction.
