Aldemar Olympian Village Opens New Conference Center
The Olympian Village of Aldemar Resorts in Western Greece recently inaugurated its new state-of-the-art conference center and exhibition space.
The Ilis Congress Center contains a total area of 9,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 3,000 people in parallel events. Zeus, the center’s main hall, has a maximum capacity of 1,200 people, while the facilities include banquet and dining areas and support rooms.
“The Ilis Congress Center, one of the largest centers in the country, is coming to be a point of reference for Ilia and also for the Region of Western Greece,” Aldemar Resorts CEO Alexandros Angelopoulos said during the inauguration on Friday.
The new conference center at Olympian Village has been designed according to international standards and specifications. Due to the flexibility of its set up it can adapt to the needs of any type of conference, exhibition and event.
According to Angelopoulos, the Ilis Congress Center has unlimited possibilities and international specifications and is expected to bring new hospitality opportunities to Western Greece.
The inauguration event was attended by top executives of business travel and conference tourism who received a tour around all the premises and were introduced to the exhibition and conference capabilities of one of the largest and most modern conference centers in Greece.
The new congress center was applauded by Sissi Lygnou, the president of the Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers & Destinations Events Specialists (HAPCO & DES). A conference tourism expect and also CEO of AFEA Travel, Lygnou highlighted the contribution of conference tourism to the reduction of seasonality, to attracting high-income visitors.
“Any project that aims to highlight the value and promote MICE tourism… such as the Illis Congress Center, one of the largest investments in the country, and upgrades the hospitality product of the Region of Western Greece, cannot but make us happy and find us allies,” she said.
On his part, former commissioner, minister and current Member of Parliament of Ilia, Dimitris Avramopoulos, underlined the potential of Ilia as a conference tourism destination.
During his speech, Avramopoulos encouraged the private sector to promote development programs and the public sector to provide incentives in order to attract investments to the destination.
“With this important project, Aldemar continues its contribution to highlight and promote Ilia as a high-quality tourism destination,” he said.
The Ilis Congress Center is located in the Aldemar Olympian Village, a luxury five-star resort overlooking the Ionian Sea. Right on the long awarded sandy beach of Skafidia, the 350-acre resort nestles within landscaped lush gardens surrounded by palm, olive and pine trees.
