Four Greek Restaurants Honored at World Culinary Awards 2023
Two restaurants in Greece and two Greek-run restaurants in Dubai were honored at the World Culinary Awards ceremony held recently in Dubai.
In its fourth year, the annual awards aimed at honoring excellence in the global culinary scene brought together industry experts and the public for a year-long journey to crown the best in international gastronomy
During the awards’ dinner reception, Spondi restaurant in Athens was named Greece’s Best Restaurant for 2023 and Makris @Domes of Elounda was named Greece’s Best Hotel Restaurant 2023.
Furthermore, on a global level, Greek-run Nammos Dubai won the title of World’s Best Mediterranean Cuisine Restaurant 2023, while Estiatorio Milos Dubai @ Atlantis The Royal won the title of World’s Best New Hotel Restaurant 2023.
Rina van Staden, Director of the World Culinary Award congratulated all winners at the event, adding that “they represent stellar examples of excellence in the culinary industry.”
France’s award-winning Anne-Sophie Pic, won the coveted title of World’s Best Restaurant while France collected the Europe’s Best Culinary Destination award.
Other notable winners included Dubai named World’s and Middle East’s Best Culinary Destination while Paris won the World’s Best Culinary City Destination award.
Greece’s wins: Spondi and Makris restaurants
Situated close to a busy square behind the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, Spondi is a MICHELIN star-awarded restaurant hailed for its highly professional service.
According to the MICHELIN Guide Spondi’s “cooking here is centered around elaborate and highly visual contemporary French cuisine that is showcased via an array of à la carte dishes as well as on a ‘Discovery’ tasting menu.”
Makris is also recognized for its wine list which includes local and mainland wines.
World Culinary Awards is the sister event to World Travel Awards, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
