The municipalities of Kefalonia are organizing a new festival, in partnership with Marketing Greece, to introduce all the amazing experiences the Ionian island can offer its visitors during the autumn months.
Titled “Stay Active Kefalonia“, the festival will take place from September 22 to 24 and feature a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, sea kayaking, cycling, and a marathon.
“This initiative a is an excellent example of using what a destination can offer in the light of sustainable development,” said Marketing Greece General Manager Nikos Diamantopoulos.
Marketing Greece, a private sector initiative established to promote Greece and its destinations, will support the festival by creating related content, activating content creators, and promoting the event through its communication channels.
The three day festival will include a hiking/trekking event at Mount Aenos; a sea kayaking event at Spasmata beach; the Kefalonia Bike Challenge at Poros; cycling for kids at Vallianou Square; the Giro di Paliki cycling tour; the Cycling for Families event; and the Aenos Mountain Marathon and Trail Race.
In addition, the Ionian University will organize the Sustainable Tourism Summit, an event dedicated to the sustainable development of tourism in Kefalonia and Ithaca.
“Kefalonia offers a wide range of activities that provide visitors with unique experiences. Our goal is for Stay Active Kefalonia to stand the test of time, while contributing to a sustainable tourism development model,” said the Argostoli Municipality Public Relations Manager Marina Vergoti.
