The restaurants in the South Aegean region, which includes islands in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, shined at the recent Greek Cuisine Awards 2023 when they were applauded for delivering outstanding experiences in haute cuisine.
Part of the Golden Chef Cap Awards launched by Athinorama magazine in 1994, the Greek Cuisine Awards event rewards the best restaurants with Greek cuisine all over Greece.
During the awards ceremony, which took place last month at the Makedonia Palace hotel in Thessaloniki, South Aegean Regional Governor George Hatzimarkos presented the awards to 43 culinary establishments located in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.
The list of the 43 best restaurants in the South Aegean included Selene at the Katikies Garden on Santorini; Grandma’s at the Liostasi Hotels and Suites on Ios; Petra restaurant at the Canaves Oia Suites on Santorini; Varoulko Santorini at the Grace Hotel Santorini, Auberge Resorts Collection; Noble Gourmet Restaurant at the Elysium Resort & Spa on Rhodes; Cantina on Sifnos; and Kenshō Ornos Restaurant at Kenshō Ornos hotel on Mykonos.
“The Region of South Aegean, which won a European Gastronomy Region Award in 2019, continues to showcase its dedication to serving national gastronomy with excellence,” said Hatzimarkos.
This year’s Greek Cuisine Awards recognized a total of 117 restaurants, highlighting their contribution to Greek gastronomy and their dedication to showcasing the country’s rich culinary heritage and innovative culinary creations.
Following the Greek Cuisine Awards, the Golden Chef Caps Awards ceremony will take place on September 8 at the Grande Bretagne hotel, followed by the Top Notch Awards ceremony on October 2 at the Grand Hyatt Athens hotel.
