Six Investors Qualify for Phase 2 of Argostoli Marina Competition
Six suitors have expressed interest in undertaking the development and management of the Argostoli marina on Kefalonia island, Greece’s assets body announced this month.
The six business groups progressing to the next phase of the competition are: Yacht Trade Consortium SA, Aktor Concessions SA – Shipbuilding, Τekal SA, D Marinas Hellas SA, Lamda Marinas and Noam Cohen.
The six investment schemes will now be required to submit binding offers for the right to use, operate and manage the Argostoli marina, the HRADF (Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund) announced.
The winning bidder will be awarded the concession deal which covers a period of 35 years with the right for a 10-year extension.
The Argostoli marina is located in the Bay of Argostoli on the southwest coast of Kefalonia, some 11km from the island’s airport. The marina can accommodate up to 174 berths with a total land area of 46,000m2.
“We are particularly pleased with the significant investment interest in the Argostoli marina. It is a priority to successfully complete the second phase of the competition as soon as possible, as the essential operation and promotion of this important port infrastructure will enhance Kefalonia’s tourism product,” said HRADF CEO Dimitris Politis.
Last year, the Greek Tourism Ministry announced that 160 million euros would be channeled into marina and port infrastructure works and upgrades as part of efforts to boost yachting, recreational and professional boating activity in Greece.
Last week, international marina network D-Marin (D Marinas Hellas SA) was awarded the 40-year management rights of the Pylos marina in Messinia.
