Sani Resort Opens First Interactive ‘Bee Spot’ in Greece

The Sani Resort in Halkidiki, northern Greece, recently unveiled its Sani Bee Spot, the first interactive bee spot in Greece.

Aiming to protect bees and other pollinators and highlight the relation of bees with humans and plants, the Sani Resort created the spot in collaboration with The Bee Camp, the first non-profit organization in Greece that aims to make cities a better place for both people and biodiversity.

The new Sani Bee Spot is a pioneering bee-friendly garden featuring seven different stations dedicated to the bees’ cycle of life. Each station has been carefully designed to serve both humans and pollinators, and offer information about the biology of wild bees as well as real-life examples of rare bee species.

Accompanied by Sani’s Eco Guides, guests can visit the Bee Spot, discover its water stations and herbal garden as well as its “Bee Hotel”, a tower hosting bees, ground shelters and an observation nursery.

In addition, through experiential games, young and adult guests can discover the different colors of pollen used by bees in Greece.

Apart from offering educational activities, the Bee Spot also aims to raise awareness on the significance of biodiversity and the importance of bees for the world’s ecosystem.

Since the start of this year’s tourism season, the new Sani Bee Spot has attracted over 600 visitors who took part in Sani’s special guided eco tour.

The initiative is part of the Sani/Ikos group’s policy to promote Mediterranean biodiversity through its collaborations with the Hellenic Ornithological Society, the iSea organization that is dedicated to the protection of Halkidiki’s dolphins and the Forest Research Institute that preserves the area’s forests.

The Sani Resort in 2021 was awarded for its sustainable and eco-friendly policies by the World Travel Awards. For a second consecutive year, the resort received the World’s Leading Luxury Green Resort title.
