Europe’s Travel Agents Make Greece ‘Preferred Destination’ for 2022

ECTAA, the umbrella organization for Europe’s travel agents and tour operators, inked a deal with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) making Greece its preferred destination for 2022, the association said this week.

Under the deal, ECTAA will promote Greece as its preferred travel destination in the next 12 months among its 70,000 member travel agents and tour operators in Europe.

In this direction, ECTAA will bring together European travel agents and tour operators with local destination management companies and other partners.

Key winning points for Greece, according to ECTAA, are safety, warm hospitality, stunning coastlines, beautiful islands, delicious cuisine and high-quality tourism infrastructure – all on offer throughout the year.

“AllYouWantIsGreece will become familiar for many European travelers,” said ECTAA in a statement.

Among others, actions through to the end of the year include positioning Greece as an attractive and safe tourist destination, highlighting efforts by Greek tourism service providers to go sustainable and on break-through initiatives, as well as organizing webinars for travel agents and tour operators in the two first weeks of May to be formally announced in the coming days.

In the meantime, ECTAA will also be holding its semi-annual meeting in November on Crete, where national delegates can experience first-hand Greece beyond its summer season and also explore the possibility of holding future congresses in Greece.

“Despite the current uncertainties, the tourism sector and travelers around the world eagerly await the return of travel. As ECTAA preferred destination for 2022, the safety and proximity of Greece as a destination, the diversity and quality of its tourist offerings, and certainly its breathtaking nature, unique heritage and gastronomy will be at the center of our promotional efforts,” said Eric Drésin, secretary general ECTAA.

Greece was also named ECTAA Preferred Destination in 2020. Additionally, in 2020, the Association praised Greece for managing to restore consumer confidence and open to tourists in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
