In a cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, Vassilis Kikilias was appointed as the new tourism minister for Greece, replacing Harry Theoharis. Kikilias previously held the position of health minister.

In 2007 Kikilias was elected as a member of the political committee of New Democracy and he has been a member ever since. In local elections of 2010, he was nominated prefect in the Region of Attica, winning second place with a share of 47.50 percent and was the head of the major opposition of the Attica Region until 2010.

Kikilias is married to former Greek model Jenny Balatsinou and has a son.
He speaks English and French.
Greece’s new cabinet will be sworn in on Tuesday at 4pm.
I hope Dr. Kikilias based on his amazing background as a doctor and athlete will improve the conditions of the health centers in the islands, and provided much needed support to sustain sport activities for the young people.
We need to be careful for uncontrolled tourisms. These island badly need major investment in the health sector to serve locals and tourists!
This is great news for Greece
It’s so typical to our times that a medical doctor is becoming tourism minister. On Saturday I was attending a panel on Israeli TV @N12 . 3 of the panelists were Medical Professors and the Moderator was A Doctor. I talked about the impact of COVID-19 on global tourism. Very strange times we are expiring.
