11th Sympossio Greek Gourmet Touring Opens with Athens Event

The 11th Sympossio Greek Gourmet Touring, the culinary initiative of Aldermar Resorts, recently launched with an event held at the Domotel Kastri hotel in Athens, in the presence of tourism officials, entrepreneurs, gastronomy experts and media representatives.
Aiming to promote Greece’s products, flavors and destinations abroad, Sympossio has created one of the largest and longest gastronomy partnerships between public and private sector organizations.
During the last decade, it has promoted Greece’s gastronomy and products to over 67 cities in 19 countries of Eastern and Western Europe.

In its 11th year, Sympossio 2020 is dedicated to Greek cheese, one of Greece’s main export products. Therefore, the launch event’s menu featured unique Greek products and recipes with cheese as the main ingredient, prepared by the executive chefs of Aldemar Resorts.
“Gastronomy is not a secondary element of the Greek tourism product. Greece’s unique cuisine can attract tourists but also complement and enhance the hospitality experience that the country offers,” Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis said during the event.

A collaborative project, Sympossio 2020 is supported by hoteliers, trade businesses and local producers from different regions of Greece. The event runs under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels.
“Sympossio wouldn’t be possible without the support of the people that have embraced it. It is not based on financial contribution, but on participation with the resources that each of us can offer,” Aldemar Resorts CEO Alexandros Angelopoulos said.
It should be mentioned that the Sympossio concept was inspired by Angelopoulos.

Domotel Hotels and Resorts is also among Sympossio’s supporters this year. “We have teamed up with Aldemar Resorts, this historic Greek hotel group, to promote its initiative abroad,” Domotel group CEO Konstantinos Alexopoulos said also wishing “good luck” to Sympossio 2020.
