NJV Athens Plaza General Manager Vana Lazarakou

The NJV Athens Plaza hotel, located in the center of the Greek capital, has been announced a Sustainable Development Goals Champion for being a member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The hotel received the title during the 4th Annual Sustainability Summit, recently held in Athens.

The Sustainable Development Goals Champions initiative was launched in 2018, within the framework of a collaboration between the MBA International (i-MBA) program of the Athens University of Economics and Business, the Center for Sustainability and Excellence – CSE and the United Nations, aiming to increase awareness and develop new initiatives based on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDG Champions are individuals or groups working in various areas of service to communities, whose work, service and impact is directly connected to one or more of the SDGs.

The NJV Athens Plaza has received a number of awards for its Corporate Social Responsibility program and has been a member of the GSTC since September 2018.

“This distinction proves the commitment of the hotel and its staff to sustainability issues. The aim of our everyday operations is to maximize the social and financial benefits for the local community, promote cultural heritage and reduce the environmental consequences,” said Vana Lazarakou, general manager of NJV Athens Plaza.

The 4th Annual Sustainability Summit was organized by i-MBA and CSE, under the theme, “Innovation for Sustainability – Business leaders discussing how to embed innovative practices into the corporate sustainability strategy”.

The event was attended by senior business executives, NGO representatives, teachers, graduates and students, and held with the support of the Representation of the European Commission in Greece.

The NJV Athens Plaza is located at central Syntagma Square.

Offering high-quality services since 1980, the hotel includes 162 rooms and 18 suites with high standard amenities; venues suitable for meetings, events and conferences that can host up to 300 persons; the a la carte restaurant “The Parliament” offering Mediterranean cuisine; “The Explorer’s Bar” and the “Plaza Café”.
