Titled, “Athens Exclusive Experiences for Mastercard cardholders,” the campaign is taking place within the framework of the Athens Tourism Partnership initiative, which is currently running with the collaboration of AEGEAN and Athens International Airport (AIA).

“Athens is currently confronted with a challenge: There seems to be no connection between what the city’s visitors are looking for and what they finally find,” Alex Galinos, CEO of the Athens Development & Destination Management Agency (ADDMA) told reporters during a press conference on Thursday. “The campaign aims to address this challenge and offer visitors what they are researching for,” he said.

Currently running via social media platforms in France, the campaign is addressed to Mastercard holders and includes three short videos describing three experiences focusing on Classical Athens, gastronomy and philosophy: The first experience provides the traveler with the opportunity to visit the Parthenon, the Ancient Agora, the Hill of Nymphs and the Athens Observatory under the night sky. The second takes travelers on a walk around Athens’ food stores, where they can shop and and then use the ingredients in a cooking class. Furthermore, the third experience offers the opportunity to tourists to attend a Greek symposium in the park where Plato’s Academy once stood.

“This new initiative provides us with the opportunity to take action and offer one of Greece’s main elements – the hospitality,” said Aspa Palimeri, Mastercard Country Manager  for Greece Cyprus and Malta, during the press conference. “With this campaign we put Athens in the epicenter by creating unforgettable experiences for the people that will choose to participate,” she added.

The short videos are available on the website of This is Athens in French and English. Visitors can learn more on the three experiences and book one with their Mastercard.
