The tourism offerings and gastronomy culture of the Peloponnese will be promoted to more than 37 cities in 15 countries of eastern and western Europe, through the Sympossio Greek Gourmet Touring 2018, organized for the ninth year by Aldermar Resorts.
The project’s official launch took place recently during an event at the St George Lycabettus Hotel in Athens, attended by tourism officials, entrepreneurs, gastronomy experts, artists and media representatives.
“The Sympossio is a unique collaborative vehicle for the promotion of Greek gastronomy abroad. During the last nine years it has proved and fully integrated all sectors of the so-called ‘Economy of Hospitality’,” Aldemar Resorts CEO Alexandros Angelopoulos said. “With the collaboration of bodies, producers, the industry, professionals from all sectors of the business ecosystem of tourism, we change the narrative through actions, not words,” he added.
The Sympossio will also present the main attractions and lesser known destinations of the Peloponnese through traditional, local recipes.
Speaking during the event, Greek Tourism Ministry Evridiki Kourneta referred to the region’s dynamics for tourism development. Aiming to make Greece a 365-days-a-year destination, the development of thematic tourism is a strategic priority for the tourism ministry.
“Gastronomy is part of our culture and an added value for tourism. The Peloponnese offers excellent dynamics and unique advantages,” Kourneta wrote on twitter following the event.
The Sympossio first traveled to Estonia, Belarus, Italy and Latvia, while in the next two months its menu will be presented in Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, the UK and Romania among other countries.
The Sympossio Greek Gourmet Touring 2018 is taking place with the support of the Greek Tourism Ministry, the regions of the Peloponnese and Western Greece, trade and businesses organizations, under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), Enterprise Greece and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH)
