Hospitality management Schools Les Roches and Glion Institute of Higher Education recently held their first “Open Day in the Athens Riviera”, at the “The Island Private House”, in the coastal suburb of Varkiza, south of Athens.

The event was organized by Luxury Concierge, a leading VIP travel services company in Greece, to introduce the universities’ hospitality management educational programs to its network of partners in Greece.

“The Athens Riviera was the ideal setting for the first Open Day event, which was addressed to potential students, who are interested in a career in the global hospitality industry”, Luxury Concierge said in an announcement.

With tourism arrivals in Greece  being on the rise, the sector contributed to the country’s total GDP by 18.6% in 2016, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The sector’s contribution to the GDP is expected to rise by 6.9% in 2017.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), tourism will contribute directly or indirectly to employment by 6.3 percent this year supporting 914,500 jobs. By 2027, the council estimates the sector to create an additional 90 million jobs.

“The dynamic hospitality field has strong demand for new talent and offers qualified graduates job opportunities across the globe,” Luxury Concierge underlined.

The Swiss Hospitality Model of Education

The Glion Institute of Higher Education and Les Roches are operating under the umbrella of Sommet Education, a network of prestigious hospitality schools in Switzerland, Spain, China, Jordan, the United Kingdom and the U.S. Both universities offer courses based on the Swiss model of hospitality education, combining theory with practice and including two mandatory internships in the hospitality business.

Furthermore, both universities maintain strong ties with the tourism industry and 90% of their students already have a job (or job offers) by the time they graduate, the announcement said. Hospitality graduates also find employment in other sectors such as luxury retail, cruises, consulting or finance.

Luxury Concierge is part of Luxury Group. Its sister company Greek Luxury Products, delivers the finest quality of caviar and truffles, while it has a wide range of Greek products and delicacies
