Greek Hotels Obliged to Display Special Information Card for Guests

Hotel-reception-bell_600x600_100KBAll hoteliers in Greece are obliged to prominently display a special “customer information card” in their hotels for guests to see, according to new legislation recently passed by Parliament.

The “customer information card” is an updated version of the old price list and is aimed at separating legitimate businesses from accommodation units that operate illegally.

The information provided on the card will also help solve problems that tend to strain the relations between hoteliers and customers. In particular, the customer card will include information (in Greek and English) in regards to the rights of guests, the obligations of customers in regards to the cancellation policy, information on check in/check out times, the rules concerning late check out, the extra bed fee etc.

The Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETKE) is responsible in providing the “customer information card” to accommodation units that are not hotels (rooms, apartments, villas).

While speaking to journalists during a recent press conference in Athens, Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said that the “customer information card” aims to ensure the quality of hotels and help combat tax dodging.
