Distribution and IT Solutions businesses maintain good growth
Amadeus, a leading technology partner for the global travel industry, issued its first quarter earnings results and reported that adjusted profit for the first quarter increased five percent to reach 176.3 million euros. Both the Distribution and IT Solutions businesses maintained their consistent year-on-year growth.
Distribution revenue increased by more than two percent rising to 612.2 million euros, and IT Solutions revenue grew by nearly 10 percent, rising to 182.9 million euros, helped by further airline IT migrations resulting in more than 131 million passengers boarded.
Based on current contracts, Amadeus project more than 800 million passengers boarded for 2015, which implies an uplift of 42 percent in the number of passengers boarded processed on the Amadeus platform, compared to 2012. These figures follow the recent announcement that the European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a second loan to Amadeus.
“We remain cautiously optimistic about the rest of 2013 and feel well positioned to benefit from the likely macro-economic recovery, which would allow revenue and contribution to grow further across both businesses,” said Luis Maroto, President & CEO, Amadeus worldwide.
