Konstantinos Brentanos, President Confederation of Greek Entrepreneurs for Tourism Lodges

Official Tourism Message Portraito_Philoxenia_Brentanos

Greek tourism has boomed once more this year! Tourists have made a massive comeback to Greece, surpassing even the most optimistic forecasts.

The original target of 25 million arrivals has already been accomplished. It is estimated that for the tourism season of 2015, arrivals will reach 26 million tourists, realizing a revenue of 14.5 billion euros.

The above figures prove that tourism constitutes the main workhorse of the Greek economy and, at the same time, a new interesting perspective for Greece in attracting tourism investments.

The objective is to upgrade infrastructures and boost the local economy within the margins of a balanced development.

It is worth mentioning the important role of the British tourist market in the course of tourism development in Greece considering that traditionally, it is one of the major supporters of Greek tourism.

For many successive years, Britons have chosen Greece for their summer holidays, with a large number of them using the facilities of small tourist establishments where they can experience a family atmosphere and Greek hospitality.

This year, like every year, tourism professionals and authorities, along with the political leaders, will make a dynamic presence at the International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki “Philoxenia” which, for the last three decades plays a leading part in the tourist scene in the broader Balkan area, promoting and advertising Greek tourism in Britain and the Balkans.

I sincerely wish that the two important Fairs, “Philoxenia” and “World Travel Market” are successful because through them we are given the opportunity to make a dynamic promotion of Greek tourism in the international tourism domain.
