Russia To Take Part In Thessaloniki Philoxenia Tourism Fair
Russia will participate in the 29th Philoxenia International Tourism Exhibition in Thessaloniki, Greece, after several years of absence.
The announcement came on 15 October following Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni’s talks with tourism officials in Moscow.
The Philoxenia exhibition is considered Greece’s official tourism expression on the world tourism market and has been making substantial contributions to the sector’s business for 28 consecutive years.
Philoxenia 2013 will take place 21-24 November at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center.
According to the Greek Tourism Ministry, Russia’s participation in Philoxenia 2013 is of “significant symbolic value.”
Greece will also welcome Russia again in 2014 as a Greek-Russian Business Forum will be held in Athens.
Russia is one of the emerging markets for Greek tourism. Forecasts see the number of Russian tourists in Greece this year surpassing 1 million.
