Domestic Tourism Down In 2010

Customer arrivals decreased by 2.6 percent and overnights fell by 2.1 percent at hotels and campsites during the January-September 2010 period, compared with the year before, according to recently released figures of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

Grecotel Shuts Classical Acropol In Athens Center

Centrally located hotel Classical Acropol on Omonia Square was recently closed down due to Greece’s economic crisis, according to an announcement of the Daskalantonakis Group in late January. The group controls the Grecotel chain of hotels.

Conference Cancellations Continue

One after another, conferences scheduled for the fall in Athens are being canceled along with the corresponding hotel bookings that go with them. There is no indication that they are simply being postponed.
