Greece Announces New Aviation Tourism Committee
The Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport on Monday announced the re-establishment of a committee for Aviation Tourism.
Announced in cooperation with the Tourism Ministry, the committee will will be expected to submit proposals, opinions and legislative reforms to strengthen, develop and improve aviation tourism conditions in Greece.
The committee’s responsibilities will also include the submission of suggestions regarding the improvement of infrastructure at regional airports, including landing and take off fields.
13-member committee
Ioannis Xifaras, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, has been appointed coordinator of the committee, who will convene and coordinate its work.
The other members of the Aviation Tourism Committee include:
– Elena Rapti, Deputy Minister of Tourism
– Christos Tsitouras, Commander of the Civil Aviation Authority
– Yiorgos Sounatsos, Commander of the Civil Aviation Service
– Sotiris Diamantopoulos, Lawyer
– Athena Babakou, Head of the Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Tourism
– Konstantinos Katsanevas, Lawyer, partner of the Deputy Minister of Tourism
– Kyprianos Biris, President of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) HELLAS
– Christos Leontopoulos, Representative of the Panhellenic Union of Pilots
– Dimitris Lyberakis, CEO, “Lydia” General Aviation Aerodrome
– Spyridon Xerias, Head of Operation of Amateur Pilot Schools
– Dimitris Ververelis, Professional helicopter operator
– Maria Gatsou, General Manager, Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE)
According to the announcement, the committee will be disbanded once it submits its observations and conclusions to the Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Staikouras.
Moreover, the announcement said that all members will serve the committee in a pro bono engagement.
