Grecotel Brings Evros into the Spotlight with Gastronomy Program
Grecotel Luxury Hotels & Resorts bring the Evros region into the spotlight as part of the “Grecotel Academy – Culinary 2024” educational program which ran in the northern Greece city of Alexandroupolis and showcased gastronomy and local produce.
More than 200 dishes inspired by local and traditional cuisine were presented during a special event at Grecotel’s award-winning hotels Astir and Egnatia. The dishes were prepared by executive chefs Sakis Tzanetos and Yiannis Kounalakis and their team of 70 chefs, sous chefs, and cooks.
The dishes showcased local products and the unique characteristics of the Evros region. Promoting destinations through their products has been a top priority for Grecotel. In this direction, the group works with local producers and has for over two decades contributed to the development of the Evros region through initiatives and actions that bring it into the international spotlight.
Another major project is Grecotel’s AgrecoFarms, which has been paving the way for best practices in tourism and agriculture while offering insight into the traditional Greek Diet. Cretan-born Grecotel founder Nikos Daskalantonakis set up AgrecoFarms in efforts to protect local products and introduce specialty food products from Crete to the world.
Grecotel Hotels & Resorts is a leading hotel chain in Greece with a portfolio of 40 luxury hotels and resorts and over 6,700 employees.
