Thessaloniki Airport ‘Makedonia’ Ranks Among Europe’s Top Airports for Second Year
Airport operator Fraport Greece received recognition in the “2023 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards” for Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia”.
The ASQ Awards, an initiative of the Airports Council International (ACI) and leading travel technology company Amadeus, highlight the best airports for customer experience worldwide, as judged by passengers themselves.
For the second consecutive year, the airport of Thessaloniki was honored as one of the leading in Europe in the category of those hosting 5 to 15 million passengers annually.
Additionally, for the first time, it was acknowledged as one of the top airports in Europe for its exceptional cleanliness.
The uniqueness of the ASQ Awards lies in the evaluation process, which directly gathers passenger feedback during their journey, ensuring the most realistic depiction of their experience and satisfaction.
According to Fraport Greece, the distinction for Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” not only confirms the best practices applied and the high-quality services provided by the airport’s fully qualified staff but also contributes to enhancing the visibility of the city of Thessaloniki and Greece as a whole.
“This distinction gives us a strong impetus to continue our work with even greater empathy, always focusing on the expectations and needs of all our passengers, as they develop over time,” Fraport Greece CEO Alexander Zinell said.
He added that Fraport Greece’s main goal remains to contribute to the development of Greek tourism and local societies through the sustainable growth of the company.
“We are committed to providing a safe and unforgettable travel experience to all passengers,” Zinell said.
Launched in 2006, ASQ is the world’s leading airport passenger satisfaction program with over 400 participating airports in 109 countries.
The ASQ program is anchored in live research conducted through surveys administered directly to travellers at the airport, capturing their satisfaction levels on the very day of travel. The surveys cover over 30 performance indicators across key elements of the passenger’s airport experience, giving the most complete picture of the passenger experience journey.
ACI World and Amadeus will celebrate the 2023 ASQ Awards winners and the ACI World Director General’s Roll of Excellence inductees at the prestigious ASQ Awards Gala Dinner during the 2024 ACI World Customer Experience Summit and Exhibition, from 23 to 26 September in Atlanta, USA.
