INSETE: Greece Sees Most Air Arrivals from UK in 2023
The UK moved up the list of top source markets for Greece in 2023 accounting for 5 million arrivals, up by 11.6 percent, or an additional 518,000 arrivals, revealed data released by INSETE, the research division of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).
Germany followed in second place with 4.4 million arrivals marking a 2.1 percent rise or an additional 89,000 passengers over 2022.
Broken down, according to INSETE data, the largest number of arrivals through Athens International Airport (AIA) were from the UK, Italy, Germany, France, and Cyprus.
The main markets supporting activity at Thessaloniki airport in 2023 were those of Germany, the UK, Cyprus, Italy, and Austria.
The largest number of arrivals at regional airports in Greece in 2023 were from the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, and France.
Overall, according to INSETE data, international arrivals through five of the country’s largest airports accounted for 75 percent of all arrivals in 2023, which reached 26.8 million marking a 13.2 percent rise over 2022.
According to the report, the number of arrivals from Romania increased by 35.3 percent to 126,000 arrivals over 2022 marking the largest increase.
The number of arrivals to Athens grew by 27.9 percent to 9.7 million passengers compared to 2022.
Activity peaked in July last year, when Greek airports handled 4.7 million arrivals or 17.4 percent of total arrivals in 2023.
