Accor Greece Hotels Report Robust Results in 2023
French hospitality giant Accor said this week that its hotels in Greece had performed well in 2023, with strong results across the Premium, Midscale, and Economy brands mainly in the summer.
According to an Accor statement on its full-year results, room revenue increased by 19.6 percent over 2022, primarily due to the rise in average room rates. Accor attributes Greek hotels’ positive performance to leisure travelers, which account for 68.3 percent of the group’s customer base, but also fueled by a significant 34 percent rise in business travel compared to 2022.
“Accor generated record-high results in 2023, with EBITDA breaking the 1 billion euro mark for the first time in its history,” said Accor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sébastien Bazin attributing the “success” to the group’s teams.
Accor hotels in Greece hosted mostly visitors from Europe, which reflects the group’s popularity in the region, it said. Europeans account for approximately 41 percent to room revenue.
In 2023, there was increased demand from Chinese and American travelers for Accor hotels in Greece as well as from holidaymakers from Eastern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula.
Additionally, in 2023 the time between booking and arrival increased to 48.5 days compared to 44.3 days in 2022.
“Our positive momentum in Greece reflects our presence through our Premium, Midscale, and Economy brands, which continue to meet the strong demand from international travelers, especially during the summer period,” said Fabiano Aouad, VP Operations Accor Italy and Greece.
Aouad goes on to add that understanding the travelers’ evolving needs, Accor continues to offer accommodation options aligned with the preferences of its guests in Greece and around the world.
He went on to highlight “the exceptional performance of hotels that provide the best guest experience, a key factor contributing to the positive results of 2023″.
Accor Group hospitality experiences are on offer in over 110 countries and 5,500 properties. The group current runs eight hotels in Greece and has announced plans for an additional eight new projects. The group said that it continues to look for new opportunities on the Greek market through partnerships (franchise agreements) with local hoteliers.
Accor’s most recent addition to its portfolio in Greece is the NIKO Seaside Resort Crete – MGallery, its second MGallery-branded hotel that followed the debut of the Athens Capital Hotel – MGallery Collection near Syntagma Square. The Group’s portfolio also includes the Mercure Rhodes Alexia Hotel & Spa on Rhodes; the Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa on Corfu; the Novotel Athenes and the Sofitel Athens Airport; and the ibis Styles Athens Routes and ibis Styles Heraklion Central on Crete.
