Tender Process for 22 Regional Airports in Greece to Launch in Q1 2024
Greek authorities are expected to announce a new round of privatizations for 22 smaller regional airports in the first quarter of 2024, confirmed Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP) CEO Grigoris Dimitriadis during the 24th Prodexpo conference held in Athens this week.
Dimitriadis said the program, which concerns the airports of Alexandroupolis, Araxos, Astypalea, Chios, Ikaria, Ioannina, Kalymnos, Karpathos, Kasos, Kastelorizo, Kastoria, Kozani, Kythira, Leros, Lemnos, Milos, Nea Anchialos, Naxos, Paros, Sitia, Skyros and Syros, will include modernization and upgrade projects.
The call of interest concerns the 22 smaller airports which are currently managed by the assets body. Dimitriadis said a consultant to carry out the tender process in the first quarter of 2024 will be chosen.
He went on to add that HCAP hopes the privatization will proceed simultaneously for all 22 airports and not individually as was the case with the 14 regional airports awarded to Fraport Greece.
Initially among the selected airports, an individual tender for Kalamata International Airport in the Peloponnese, has attracted the interest of four investors: Egis Airport Operation – Aktor Concessions Single Member SA – Aéroports de la Cote d’Azur, Fraport AG – Delta Airport Investments SA, Pileas SA, GEK Terna SA – GMR Airports Limited, and Mytilineos SA – Corporation America Airports SA.
The concession tender for the right to operate, develop and maintain the airport is expected to be completed a year later than initially planned in the first half of 2024.
Hopefully Ikaria Airport will be one of the first, it is in a dire state of repair and in need of long term proper and properly managed investment and management
One of the problems for VOLos airport is that no one can agree on the name! This is why you have not been able to add a link in your list. Here is is:

Hopefully this confusion will be a thing of the past before too long and VOLos airport will develop as it should to serve the whole region including Pelion.
