Greece Successfully Completes Repatriation of Greek Citizens from Israel
Greece is included among the first countries that successfully completed the repatriation of its citizens from Tel Aviv, following Hamas’ unexpected attack on Saturday to Israel, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Greece in Tel Aviv and the Consulate General in Jerusalem, mobilized immediately for the safe return of Greek visitors and residents of the area,” the ministry said in a statement.
Specifically, on Monday, October 9, 90 Greek visitors to Israel returned to Greece on an El Al flight directly to Athens. They were followed by another 68 Greeks on Tuesday, October 10.
On Thursday, October 12, the ministry chartered a special flight and flew 72 Greek residents of Israel to Athens. According to the ministry, the Greeks who resided in Israel had expressed a desire to repatriate.
Moreover, the ministry informed that the return of citizens of European and third countries was also facilitated through the aforementioned flights. Specifically, the return of citizens of Austria, Germany and Israel, Albania, Belgium, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Ireland, Latvia, Ukraine and Panama was secured.
