Rhodes Marathon 2024 to Take Place in April, Registrations Open
The 9th Rhodes Marathon, the annual celebration of the international running community of Rhodes, Dodecanese, will take place on April 21, 2024, according to an announcement by the event’s organizers.
Held since 2014, the international marathon gives runners the opportunity to follow a coastal route with a view to the Aegean Sea and the island’s most important sights such as its Medieval City, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
“We’re thrilled for the full return of the Rhodes Marathon… We believe the 2024 event will break all records,” said the event’s organizing committee president and Vice President of SEGAS Dodecanese Marietta Papavassiliou.
Following a forced hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Rhodes Marathon made a comeback in April 2023 and was deemed a success having attracted over 3,000 runners from Greece and abroad.
“I invite runners from Greece and the whole world to visit Rhodes, to run along this unique coastal route and to combine sports, sun and sea, getting to know the hospitality and beauties of Rhodes at a special time of the year,” Papavassiliou added.
The event is co-organized by the MARATHONIOS RODOS NGO, the Dodecanese branch of the Hellenic Athletics Federation SEGAS, the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Rhodes.
Held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the marathon is also supported by the Dodecanese Chamber of Commerce, the Rhodes Hotel Association and the municipal Museum of Contemporary Greek Art.
The Rhodes marathon has the official approval of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) that ensures the validity and the international recognition of the race.
Registrations for the 2024 Roads to Rhodes Marathon have opened for the main marathon route, the half marathon and 5 and 10 kilometer routes on the race’s website (https://www.rhodesmarathon.gr/). Discount prices on tickets and accommodation are available.
