Experiences in Greece on Tripadvisor’s Lists of Best ‘Things to Do’

A number of Greek attractions and experiences are among the winners of Tripadvisor’s 2023 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best “Things to Do” Awards. Tripadvisor is the world’s largest travel guidance platform.
Analyzing 12-months of Tripadvisor review data (May 1, 2022 – April 30, 2023) from millions of travelers across the globe, Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best “Things to Do” is a list of extraordinary experiences for travelers looking to create memorable moments.
The list brings together the very best activities and excursions – from bookable tours and experiences to top attractions that travelers can visit along the way.

With regards to Greece, travelers ranked the Acropolis in Athens as the 11th Top Attraction in Europe and 14th across the globe.
Furthermore, hiking at Kalamata’s Polilimnio waterfalls was named the 22nd Best of the Best Thing to Do in the world in the Nature and Outdoor Activities category, while a small-group full-day cruise with snorkeling and lunch around Milos was chosen as the 13th best sailing and day cruise activity in the world.
The Snorkeling and Water Sports category included two activities in Greece: an east Pelion mini boat tour (21st) and a Rhodes sea kayaking tour (24th).
Finally, a Santorini wine adventure in 3 wineries with 12 tastings and tapas was chosen as the 5th best in the world in the Wine Experiences category.

Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best “Things to Do” Awards follows the platform’s unveiling of the top-rated hotels all over the world. A number of hotels in Greece were among the winners.
These commercial lists are the most successful media to invite mass tourism and overtourism, when everybody travels to the same mass destinations doing there what every other tourist does, did and will do. The safest way to prevent real experiences for guests and to spoil the life of local citizens. The subject is the tourism industry which is not concerned with “experiences” of tourists and the effects of mass tourism on inhabitats, ecology, sustainability and estimation of Greek life.
