LGBTQ+ Travel: W Costa Navarino Becomes First IGLTA-accredited Hotel Globally
The W Costa Navarino in Messinia has made history by becoming the first hotel worldwide to receive accreditation from the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) for its outstanding inclusivity practices.
IGLTA, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ travel association, recently announced the global launch of “IGLTA Accredited”, a groundbreaking initiative to support full equality within the travel industry.
The Greek resort, a resort exclusively for adults and young adults over 12 years old, has received the “IGLTA Accredited” status in recognition of its commitment to promote equality and safety, marking a significant milestone in LGBTQ+ travel.
W Costa Navarino is the first W Hotel that opened in Greece at Navarino Waterfront, the newest integrated area of Costa Navarino.
Known for its dedication to meet the diverse needs of its guests and embrace individual uniqueness, Costa Navarino embarked on a journey over a year ago to anticipate and fulfill their preferences. Through partnerships with organizations such as the University of Piraeus, HospitableMe, and IGLTA, the destination has conducted research to understand the needs of different groups within the tourism sector.
These efforts have led W Costa Navarino, which made its debut last year, to receive the prestigious “IGLTA Accredited” status, which serves as a testament to the resort’s commitment to inclusivity and equality. By meeting comprehensive criteria through an evaluation process, W Costa Navarino showcased evidence-based allyship and emerged as a trailblazer in LGBTQ+ travel.
“The fact that W Costa Navarino is the first hotel in the world to be IGLTA Accredited is a true honor and gives us confidence that we are on the right path,” said Managing Director of TEMES SA, the developers of Costa Navarino, Stephanos Theodorides.

By fostering an inclusive environment, Costa Navarino ensures that people from different cultural backgrounds, gender identities, ethnicities, and individuals with disabilities are successfully accommodated.
While this milestone is significant, Costa Navarino sees it as just the beginning of a journey towards creating a fully inclusive destination.
As Costa Navarino continues to prioritize diversity and inclusion, it remains a sustainably driven Mediterranean destination located in the Greek region of Messinia. With its unspoiled and seaside landscapes shaped by 4,500 years of history, Costa Navarino strives to preserve the natural beauty and heritage of Messinia.
The destination comprises several distinct sites featuring five-star hotels, private residences, signature golf courses, and a wide range of year-round activities.
With W Costa Navarino leading the way as the first IGLTA-accredited hotel globally, LGBTQ+ travelers can look forward to a safe and inclusive experience at this remarkable Mediterranean destination.
