Marketing Greece Launches Promo Videos for Argosaronic Islands
Marketing Greece, the non-profit organization established to promote tourism in Greece, has recently launched promo videos for four Argo – Saronic Islands: Aegina, Poros, Hydra and Spetses in collaboration with AEGEAN airlines.
The four spots, running one minute each, share the motto “An island escape one hop from Athens” and aim to introduce the authentic island atmosphere and uniqueness these destinations share, to travelers across the globe.
Aegina
The video’s protagonist finds herself walking around the streets of Aegina’s main town. While there, she visits local ceramics and pottery shops, tries cheese combined with the island’s world-famous pistachio and tastes fresh seafood.
Later, she visits the ancient temple of Aphaia (an ancient Greek goddess), goes on a boat trip to Moni Island and follows a hiking trail in Paleochora, the island version of Mystras.
Poros
Next stop, the small, serene island of Poros.
This video takes viewers to water activities at the Russian Dockyard beach and on a hiking trail to the rock-built Dana Lighthouse.
Although a small island, Poros is characterized by its numerous pine forests which often stretch to the local beaches.
The video’s protagonist, during her island hopping on Poros, visits a local art gallery and a traditional weaving workshop while also testing her pastry making abilities by creating and tasting almond-based sweets.
Hydra
The historically rich and culturally alluring Hydra finds the promo spot’s traveler visiting places like the Historical Archives Museum of Hydra, the Lazaros Koundouriotis Historical mansion and the local Deste Foundation for contemporary art while also taking time off to participate on a boat trip around the island’s best beaches & spots.
Spetses
This spot’s viewers get to meet the famous among captains and fashionistas, island through a bike ride along Spetses’ waterfront, passing by the mansions below the St Nicholas’ Church, the Old Harbor and the main town.
The video’s protagonist tries farm-to-table and tasting, discovers the island’s secluded beaches by boat and travels on the first electric Greek traditional wooden sailboat.
Marketing Greece, which was founded in 2013, is a private sector initiative, whose shareholders include the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, and the Hellenic Association of Communication Agencies.
Great effort in creating these videos however the message to visit these beautiful islands is not as strong as it should be. Not sure they’ll achieve their goal.
