Greece Goes to ITB Berlin 2023 Travel and Tourism Expo
Greece for three days will exhibit its tourism offerings at the ITB Berlin in Germany, the world’s leading travel exhibition.
The ITB travel trade show in Berlin is opening its doors this year under the slogan “Open for Change” at the Messe Berlin fairgrounds on March 7 as an in-person event.
Running until March 9, this year’s ITB Berlin will for the first time take place as a pure B2B event open for trade visitors only.
Having to take place live since 2019 due to the Covid pandemic, ITB Berlin 2023 will see high participation of domestic and international trade visitors seeking prosperous business opportunities.
At ITB Berlin 2023 the destination hot spot will be hub27, the new multi-purpose hall, which is fully booked.
Greek stand – Hall 1.1/101
According to the organizers, demand for places was high among Greek exhibitors, who are represented in Hall 1.1 at Stand 101.
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and its co-exhibitors — Greek regions, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, etc. — are inviting all to visit the Greek stand and get acquainted with the country’s holiday destinations and tourism products.
Trade visitors to the Greek stand this year will have the opportunity to sample the country’s gastronomy and regional products.
Representatives from various Greek municipalities and regions will be available to inform professionals on the tourism options offered by their destinations.
ITB Berlin is considered one of the most important exhibitions for Greece, considering that Germany is a key market for Greek tourism.
According to BoG data, some 30 million travelers chose to holiday in Greece last year with visitors from Germany up by 45 percent to over 4.3 million compared to 2021.
Germany last year was the second largest market for Greek tourism following the United Kingdom (over 4.4 million travelers).
Demand for travel to Greece this year is on the up
So far, early bookings for travel to Greece for the 2023 season are rising. According to the Tourism Ministry, the aim this year is for Greek tourism to capitalize on the strong momentum it developed in 2022 with revenues from the industry at 17.63 billion euros, according to the latest data released by the Bank of Greece. Although last year’s tourism revenue remained down by three percent compared to 2019 (and over 18 billion euros) industry insiders are optimistic that this year Greek tourism will surpass pre-Covid levels.
