Acropolis Museum Opens Doors for European and Global Celebrations
The Acropolis Museum in Athens is organizing a number of events for its visitors to mark the celebrations for this year’s European Night of Museums (May 14) and International Museum Day (May 18).
European Night of Museums
On Saturday, May 14, the museum has announced that it will participate in the events for the European Night of Museums with extended opening hours – from 8am until 12 midnight – and free entry from 8pm onwards.
The museum’s restaurant will remain open during the same hours.
Visitors will be able to admire by night the masterpieces of the museum’s collections, while on the same day, within the context of the initiative What does the Acropolis Museum mean to you?, the most representative answers of visitors received recently by the museum will be projected on a big screen.

International Museum Day
On Wednesday May 18, the Acropolis Museum will celebrate the International Museum Day by offering free entry to its visitors from 8am to 8pm.
This year’s topic is the “Power of museums” focusing on achieving sustainability, innovation, digitalization and accessibility.
On this occasion, the museum will offer its adult visitors two new gallery talks: The “Hidden stories of the diaspora” (available in Greek and in English) and the “Digital Acropolis Museum”.
In addition, the new family trail titled “The Parthenon Sculptures. 6 short stories of separation” will be available for children and their parents.
