Greece Reaches Out to Kids with Animated Tourism Tale

In efforts to reach out to kids and introduce them to Greece, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) presented on Thursday a cartoon spot in four languages.

The video is part of the GNTO’s promotional activities and aims to introduce young travelers worldwide to Greece. GNTO officials are hoping to promote the country as a family destination.

Dubbed “ΧέLLO Welcomes Kids to Greece”, the video, presented during the 14th Animasyros International Animation Festival on the island of Syros, features mascot and guide ΧέLLO, who gives kids on a tour of Greece.

The cartoon characters travel to the Acropolis, the ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, they enjoy Greek food by the sea, play and swim and have fun in a safe environment.

“For the first time, the GNTO addresses children. We welcome our young friends by creating an animated video for children aged seven to 15 so that they get a small taste of Greece; its history, nature, good food, fun and happiness,” GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis.

On his part, Animasyros President Vassilis Karamitsanis said tourism and culture should complement each other.

“Our new collaboration with the GNTO for the creation of the first international animated tourism film for children was a creative challenge and a great honor for the festival,” he added.
