A new multilingual tourism guide, focusing on the experiences travelers can live in Heraklion on Crete, will soon be available to visitors, according to the city’s municipality.

Named “Heraklion, where Crete begins”, the new guide will aim to renew the city’s brand based on the municipality’s updated tourism marketing strategy.

The new printed material will be available in English, Greek, German, Russian and Italian.

“Despite this year’s difficulties, we are moving forward and planning to renew Heraklion’s tourism image, through a number of actions that aim to strengthen the city’s brand,” Deputy Mayor for Planning and Tourism George Sisamakis said.

The municipality will also print a city map, featuring hiking routes and landmark monuments, which will be available in all of Heraklion’s hotels and info points.

In addition, the municipality will present the city’s Venetian fortifications in a 40-page guide to be printed in Greek and in English.

“By highlighting its plethora of tourism options, Heraklion essentially matures as a city break destination and lays the foundations for its further development,” the municipality said.

The new printed material will be distributed to tour agents, visitors, conference delegations, and participants of educational programs.

It is also available in a digital form at www.visitheraklion.eu/dreaming//dream.html.
