The city of Thessaloniki and the region of Halkidiki in northern Greece, during September 15-20, will host the FVW Workshop Greece 2020, the annual meeting of the FVW magazine that focuses on the German tourism market.

Aiming to promote the two Greek destinations to the German market, the workshop will provide information on their tourism infrastructure and the experiences offered to visitors.

“In these extraordinary conditions caused by Covid-19, the restart of tourism must be made with boldness, determination, flexibility, professionalism, knowledge and a high level of services…” the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO) said in an announcement.

The workshop, to be coordinated by FVW Editor-in-Chief Klaus Hildebrand, will host tourism experts, representatives of major German tour operators, travel agents and the editorial team of FVW.

It will offer insight on the reasons why a destination is chosen for tourism amid the new Covid-19 conditions; on the plans of tour operators for 2021; and on ways for the dynamic restart of destinations.

Meanwhile, FVW’s hospitality program will focus on thematic holiday proposals, the cultural profile of destinations, conference and MICE tourism, gastronomy, nature, hotel infrastructure, level of adaptation to the new conditions, and attractiveness to different market segments.

“All this brings the destination closer to decision makers and the distribution network of tour operators, retailers and the FVW magazine that communicates with 10,000 travel agencies,” TTO said.

This year’s meeting is organized by TTO and the Halkidiki Tourism Organization. It will be held under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry and supported by the Greek National Tourism Organization.
