The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) presented Greece’s special forms of tourism to Dutch professionals and travelers during the Fiets en Wandelbeurs 2020 travel fair, which was recently held in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

“Dutch tourism professionals and travelers maintain their interest in Greece, with pre-bookings rising steadily, despite the coronavirus outbreak,” the GNTO underlined in an announcement.

During the fair, visitors expressed interest in learning more about Greece’s hiking trails. The GNTO, in collaboration with Dutch journalist Paul van Bodengraven of the One Day Walks guide and Oppadmet.nl, presented the hiking trails of Halkidiki in northern Greece.

Furthermore, the organization offered information on the country’s cycling routes, climate and transport options. Many visitors also looked for activities in popular and lesser known Greek destinations.

The Organization participated in the fair with its own stand along with the Region of Thessaly and the Municipality of Kythira – Antikythira.

In its 16th year, Fiets en Wandelbeurs and its parallel events, E-bike Experience and Bike Motion BeNeLux, hosted 160 exhibitors and welcomed over 41.000 attendees.

According to the GNTO, the majority of the fair’s visitors were over 40 years old and highly educated. They travel at least three times a year, mainly outside The Netherlands, and opt for hiking and cycling destinations.
