Greece took center stage at the presentation of Swiss tour operator Hotelplan’s summer 2020 program, held recently in Zurich, according to an announcement by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
Hotelplan is a brand of Hotelplan Suisse, the largest Swiss tour operator that owns over 100 travel agencies all over Switzerland.
During the presentation it was announced that holiday packages to the Greek destinations of Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Kos, Zakynthos, Halkidiki, Samos, Santorini and Thassos, account for 30 percent of Hotelplan’s whole summer 2020 program.
Hotelplan Product Manager Victoria Studer highlighted the high preference of Swiss travelers for Greek destinations. Responding to growing demand, Hotelplan has expanded its bed and airline capacity in Greece for 2020.
On her part, Eleni Melita, the head of the GNTO office for Austria (which also covers the Swiss market), presented Greece’s comparative advantages to some 150 Swiss travel agencies, airline representatives and journalists that attended the presentation.
Melita focused on the many alternative tourism options that Greece offers 365 days a year.
The event also included wine tasting of Greek wines and the screening of seven short films of the GNTO that featured Greek thematic tourism products.
