Scoot Connects Athens and Laos with Services via Singapore

Scoot, the low-cost arm of the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group, on Monday (April 1), launched its inaugural flight from Singapore to Laos, marking the start of its three-times weekly flights connecting Singapore with Luang Prabang and Vientiane.

With Luang Prabang and Vientiane joining the Scoot network, visitors from Athens will now be able to select among 65 destinations in Asia Pacific travelling via Singapore.

As such, we are excited to expand our services to Laos – a country that is renowned for its mesmerising scenery, history and culture,” said Vinod Kannan, Chief Commercial Officer of Scoot.

Scoot’s flight schedules to Vientiane and Luang Prabang are as follows:

The flights operate on a circular routing departing from Singapore for Luang Prabang, followed by Vientiane, before heading back to Singapore. The services were transferred from sister airline, SilkAir, and Scoot will now be the only airline offering direct services to Laos from Singapore.

Upon arrival at Luang Prabang Airport and Wattay International Airport in Vientiane on Monday, the A320 aircraft Yellow Tail, was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute.

Furthermore, to celebrate Scoot’s maiden flight to Laos, fun activities were organised in the air, where traditional Laos music was played over the sound system and passengers were tested on their knowledge of Laos and Scoot.

In addition, five lucky passengers walked away with prizes such as a Scoot travel voucher, a Scoot travel organizer, a Laos travel guide and a Scoot-in-Style lounge access.

Scoot took to the skies in June 2012, and has since won multiple awards, including the Best Low Cost Airline (Asia/Pacific) title by AirlineRatings.com from 2015 to 2018. It was also ranked in the Top 10 of the World’s Best Low-Cost Airlines in 2015 and 2018 by Skytrax.
