SWOT’s BTPF Deemed ‘Major Tourism Event’ in Greece
The Business Travel Professionals Forum (BTPF) B2B event won the silver tourism award as a Major Tourism Event in the Strategy & Innovation category for initiatives launched to extend the tourism season in Greece.
The Tourism Awards event, held for the fifth consecutive year in Athens by Boussias Communications and Hotel & Restaurant magazine, recognizes excellence and innovation in the hospitality and tourism industries.
BTPF event by SWOT
Organized annually in Athens by tourism enterprises development company SWOT (Simple Way of Tourism), the BTPF event offers networking opportunities between Greek hotel entrepreneurs, leading tourism enterprises and travel agencies.
The 5th BTPF was held in November 2017 with the participation of 35 hotel representatives, who, in eight hours, held over 1,500 meetings with 121 travel agencies from all over Greece, 30 selected Hosted Buyers from the Middle East and Central Europe, as well as 102 representatives of commercial companies, from all business sectors.
“After five years of unique events involving more than 130 hotels, 450 representatives of travel agencies in Greece, 120 representatives of travel companies in the international market and 350 executives of our country’s commercial companies, the forum’s success has been celebrated in the best way,” SWOT said in an announcement regarding the winning of the tourism award.
Boutique Hotels & Villas Forum by SWOT
SWOT also organizes a Boutique Hotels & Villas Forum, an event that brings the country’s small lodges (boutique hotels, villas and studios/apartments) in contact with travel agencies and hotel suppliers to expand partnerships and boost sales.
The event was held for the second time in March 2018 and brought together 31 Greek small lodges (up by 10 lodges from the previous event) with 127 travel agencies and hotel suplliers (up from 59 from the previous event).
“This is a huge increase, which also shows the need for travel agencies to get to know new accommodation options for their customers, as well as for hotels to get to know travel agencies and suppliers that can help them increase their sales,” SWOT CEO George Constantinidis told GTP Headlines.
“SWOT is a sales development company for hotels and through these events shows its expertise and brings hotels — regardless of whether they are clients or not — closer to the market to make direct collaborations,” Constantinidis said.
The 3rd Boutique Hotels & Villas Forum will be held on March 18, 2019, in Athens.
