Travel Massive Crete to Hold Event on Local Tradition and Tourism
Crete’s traditions, heritage and gastronomy will be presented during conference by Travel Massive Crete, titled “Traditions as a tool for rural tourism development”, on Thursday, April 5, in the village of Argyroupoli, located near the island’s town Rethymno.
Travel Massive is a global tourism industry community, connecting over 39,000 members in 149 chapters, located in 180 countries.
The event will include open discussions on tourism and its connection to tradition and local products. Some of the topics to be discussed include:
– “The case of the Enagron Ecotourism Village”, to be presented by Anastasia Chatziioannou, project Manager at EyeWide Digital Marketing Agency.
– “Linking local products with tourism”, by Stavros Hatzimarinakis from the Laboratory of Research and Tourism Satellite Accounts (LaReTSA), University of Patra.
– “The values of cultural heritage as a way to approach visitors”, by Mihaela Lica Butler, award-winning travel writer, Founder and Principal Partner at Pamil Visions Travel PR.
– “Experiential tourism in rural areas: Sustainable tourism products and services that amaze travelers and benefit local communities”, by Anula Galewska, Business Manager at Urban Adventures and a Co-Founder of Travindy sustainable tourism news portal.
Participants will also have the opportunity to sample local products and learn more on the history and traditions of Argyroupoli.
Furthermore, on Good Friday, April 6, they will be able to join locals in the procession of the Epitaph and the evening mass.
Traditional Cretan fasting dishes will also be served, prepared by women of local associations under the guidance chefs and the personnel of the Cretan Center of Gastronomy.
