It’s disco all night long this year for the Patra carnival which comes to a close this Sunday, February 26, with none other than disco group extraordinaire Boney M.
Who better to bring the carnival season to a booming close if not the Euro-Caribbean vocal group based in Germany which enjoyed record popularity in the ’70s and 80s.
The retro band will take the stage after Patra Mayor Kostas Peletidis announces the beginning of Carnival 2018 at the Agios Nikolaos pier following the end of the grand parade and the burning of King Carnival.
Past disco favorites “Daddy Cool”, “Rasputin”, “Ma Baker”, and “Rivers of Babylon” promise to keep revellers on their toes into the next morning – Clean Monday (Kathara Deftera) marking the official beginning of Lent.
In the meantime, to meet the demand over the three-day Clean Monday weekend, Trainose will increase inner-city train services in Patra.
